San Marcos Arroyo Bridge Reconstruction – PhasingTwo-way traffic will remain on NM 14 until a temporary bridge and roadway approaches have been constructed. The temporary bridge will be located approximately 70 feet west of the existing bridge (from the center of the existing bridge to the center of the temporary bridge). Once the temporary bridge is in place, traffic will be detoured. Both directions of traffic will be maintained across the temporary bridge, so delays during bridge reconstruction will not occur. Once traffic is using the temporary bridge, the existing bridge will be demolished and reconstructed. After the new San Marcos bridge is completed, the temporary bridge will be removed. The disturbed areas will be revegetated with native plant species and trees and will improve the wetland habitat for small mammals and birds. |
